More Councilors and Mayors joining the Order

The Grand Commandery of Malta and the Commandery of Gozo have both been very active throughout their years of operation in the Maltese isles. This is not only underlined by the ever growing numbers of knights and dames based on the islands or by the amounts of investitures organized every year. The growth of the Order in Malta and Gozo is also furthermore underlined when one reckons the numbers of city councilors and mayors which form part of the Lazarite family and which have been invested into the Order; some also receiving the coveted Order of Merit of the Order for services rendered to the community.

This is not just a unique situation synonymous to the Maltese islands. The Grand Priory of the Mediterranean also includes a number of Mayors, Members of Parliament and high dignitaries in France and Italy.

As at the 17th investiture of the Grand Priory of the Mediterranean in October 2009, the following Councilors and Mayors are members and officers of their respective Commanderies in Malta.
